  • We are seeking an experienced Specialist Family Violence Leader to step into our Team Lead role within our family violence Refuge.
  • The salary for this role is a SHADS Level 7 starting at $115,626.68 plus superannuation + $15,990 salary packaging.

As Specialist Family Violence Team Leader – Refuge and Services your primary focus is to provide leadership and operational oversight of the Refuge to support the journey to recovery for victim survivors escaping family violence.

Reporting to the Refuge Manager, you will support day to day operations of the 24/7 refuge and accompanying services. This position is available on an ongoing full-time basis. Our Refuge is located in the Brimbank Area. Further details provided upon request to ensure confidentiality of the address.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing, leading and developing a team of 8-10 family violence practitioners and residential support workers, including allocation and monitoring of workload.
  • Ensuring the coverage of service delivery including rostering of a 24/7 site, intake, case management, crisis housing, refuge, and high-risk clients during periods of high demand and/or staff planned or unplanned leave.
  • Leading and coaching workers in how to resolve complex case management issues, providing support, supervision and debriefing to staff regarding issues associated with vicarious trauma.
  • Supervising and developing the capabilities of case workers to effectively apply frameworks and utilise tools to support victim survivors.
  • Ensuring the service is undertaking and implementing informed and considered risk assessments and safety planning, clear case plans and exit plans with women and children experiencing family violence.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work or a related field as per the Minimum Mandatory Qualifications (MMQ).
  • 5-7 years' experience in the community services sector, and/or family violence sector, that includes managing complex case management workloads.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership role.

The ideal candidate will posses:

  • Experience working within a reformed environment, along with a flexible approach to leadership within a changing environment.
  • Experience in advancing external partnerships, with service providers and other stakeholders to enhance support pathways for clients.
  • Demonstrate experience working within a crisis or refuge environment.
