Community Engagement Officer - Hindi Speaking - Wyndham / Melton

We are seeking a Hindi speaking Community Engagement Officer within our Strategy, Advocacy, Community Engagement team.

This role is paid at SCHADS Level 4.1 ($89,374.48) plus superannuation, plus $15,990 salary packaging. This role is offered on a casual 9-month fixed-term contract up to 2.5 days a week (0.5FTE).

As the Community Engagement Officer you will sit within The Climate Resilience team in our GenWest’s Strategy, Advocacy and Community Engagement (SACE) stream. The SACE stream implements activities designed to promote women’s health, safety and wellbeing across six key areas: sexual and reproductive health, chronic disease prevention, mental health and wellbeing, gender equality in health and wellbeing, gendered violence prevention and women in a changing society - climate change, emergency, and disaster situations. You will also work alongside GenWest’s Multilingual Health Education (MHE) team.

The role of the Community Engagement Officer is responsible for supporting the delivery of the project Our Community Our Voice (OCOV) – Building climate resilient communities. This project will improve climate resilience and disaster preparedness in Wyndham and Melton, with a focus on engaging the Indian community.

Reporting to the Project Lead – Climate Resilience, you are responsible for:

  • Conducting community engagement activities in Wyndham and Melton.
  • Conducting in-language community sessions with migrant communities in community settings.
  • Participating in planning, delivering and evaluation of climate resilience and disaster preparedness project activities.
  • Maintaining and developing educational resources.
  • Preparing reports and collecting data on work undertaken.
  • Undertaking publicity and promotional activities in a relevant community language.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in community development, health, or social work fields.
  • Demonstrated fluency in English and Hindi.
  • Experience communicating and liaising with a wide range of organisations, stakeholders and individuals across Melbourne's west.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Training/group facilitation experience as a bicultural worker.

Please note the hours for this role will be up to 2.5 days a week (0.5FTE), this will vary week to week based on organisational requirements. Flexible work arrangements can be negotiated.
