About the Role

Based in Geelong- the Software Engineer will provide software maintenance, support and enhancements defined by genU’s strategic plans as identified in the bug tracking and incident based systems including the Service Desk, CIR database and JIRA. The Software Engineer will maintain existing software and develop new software to support genU’s organisational objectives. The Software Engineer will provide technical support to genU staff working closely with the ICT Service Delivery team.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing new software and maintaining existing in-house applications in partnership with key business decision makers and analysts within genU
  • Developing core coding infrastructure for building usable, maintainable, scalable, reliable, extensible, and secure solutions in a multidisciplinary team
  • Translating organisational requirements into system specifications through liaising with key business partners within genU
  • Working within an agile system development life cycle within a team of developers
  • Documenting and tracking system issues, bugs and business rules through relevant industry tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Designing and building user interfaces that are intuitive and require minimal end user training
  • Develop and maintain successful customer relationships

About You

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree

Essential

  • Advanced programming skills in C#, .NET, MSSQL, or equivalent
  • Experience developing web based solutions using Web API, MVC, Web Forms, Angular JS and other JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience with designing user interfaces using CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Template Engines, Single Page Apps
  • Experience with object-relational mappers such as Entity Framework
  • Experience with web based architectural design patterns such as MVP, MVVM, MVC
  • Experience with version control software and continuous integration
  • Demonstrated ability showing excellent customer service skills and customer focus
  • Demonstrated excellence when engaging in face-to-face customer support
  • Excellent communication & customer engagement skills
  • A strong focus on service delivery with a desire to innovate, improve process, support others and share ideas
