Gaza Association Australia was founded by a group of residents from New South Wales who either from Gaza, were raised there, or trace their ancestry back to the region. As a non-profit organisation, we are committed to offering a range of activities that foster community engagement, including social, sporting, artistic, cultural, and heritage-preserving initiatives. We pride ourselves on being a non-religious and non-political organisation, welcoming all Palestinians regardless of background.
The board chose the name Gaza for the association in honour of Gaza City, which holds a special place in our hearts. As one of the oldest cities in the world dating back over 4,000 years, Gaza is a symbol of enduring resilience and rich cultural heritage. It is the fourth oldest city globally, with a history deeply rooted in civilisation, located in Palestine.
Our mission is to empower the Palestinian community in Australia by promoting unity, cultural pride, and resilience. We are dedicated to advocating for social justice, humanitarian aid, and the wellbeing of the community members both within Australia and around the world. Gaza Association Australia aims to strengthen our local community by providing essential services, preserving cultural traditions, and advocating for the rights and dignity of Palestinians across NSW. We seek to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment, nurturing strong connections within the community and actively contributing to humanitarian efforts for those impacted by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
This 4-days per week role will deliver culturally safe casework for new arrivals from Palestine and their families, organise community activities and events and help GAA to increase our capacity to deliver services to our community. The position will be based in South West Sydney. Please check the attached Job Description for more information.
We are looking for a person with casework, community development, event management and groupwork skills with a passion and interest in supporting new arrivals from Palestine.
Work from home option will be available.
