ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

Gadigal Information Service Aboriginal Corporation (GIS) was established in 1993 and is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned and operated Koori arts/media organisation. GIS obtained its fulltime broadcast license "Koori Radio" 93.7FM 2LND in 2001. Koori Radio provides a range of broadcasts and cultural services including a 24-hour radio station and a diverse arts program to name a few. GIS utilises radio and the arts to engage and inform on the issues and concerns affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other marginalised people and communities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

After a period of change management, The General Manager position has been created to lead and manage the organisation into the years ahead. The voice of our First Nations people and building a strengthened art and culture portfolio will be your passion and the basis of your purpose as General Manager.

The GM will be responsible for the delivery of the organisations mission and strategy, through successful management of day-to-day operations and functions, including programs, events, strategic and operational compliance, team management, financial management,

workplace health and safety, production and technical management.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience in a senior executive role, preferable in broadcasting, radio or creative industries. Qualifications in Business, communication or community services management is highly desirable.

The applicant will need to have a strong understanding of Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols and community dynamics.

Gadigal Information Service considers that being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage is a genuine occupational qualification for this role under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

Position Criteria

  • Experience in broadcasting, radio, creative industries or community service delivery.
  • Qualifications in Business, Community Management, Communications, or a related field
  • Proven experience in operational or program management in a community, media or arts organisation.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols and community dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Experience in budgeting, planning, compliance and organisational operations.
  • High-level communication, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and reporting obligations.
  • Proficient in using digital systems and office technologies.
  • Facilitate the development of strong funding relationships.
  • Encourage innovation in training and learning in the community.
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
