Ravenhall Correctional Centre is a medium security men’s prison which opened in late 2017 in Ravenhall, Victoria.

Ravenhall now has an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal Transition and Post-Release Case Worker to join their team on a full-time basis.
The objective of this role is to focus on Aboriginal prisoners who are nearing release or their release is pending and providing pre and post-release support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Prisoners to assist them to successfully transition from Ravenhall back into the community.
Reporting to Manager, Aboriginal Programs, you will be responsible for identifying a strategy best suited to assist the prisoners in their life outside of prison, this may include ensuring they have housing, a support network or prospects for employment.
To be successful you will need to have experience working or living in Aboriginal communities and be able to effectively understand and address the challenges they may face.
You will have demonstrated knowledge about the Victorian Criminal Justice System including the role of the Courts, prisons, parole and community corrections.
It's important that you are able to communicate effectively while building a strong rapport with the prisoners. Having well-developed interpersonal, communication, assertiveness and negotiation skills will ensure you are successful in this role.
You should have a strong passion for social justice and making a difference in the lives of the inmates. Your resilience and ability to be flexible will ensure you are able to work effectively with a diverse team of individuals.
Please note: This is an identified position. Being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification as specified under section 14D of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
Prior to commencement, you must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current unrestricted drivers licence and a satisfactory security clearance conducted by GEO Group.
