Friends of the Koala is looking for a vibrant and motivated Volunteer Coordinator to lead and grow our incredible team of volunteers!

In this dynamic role, you’ll drive the development of an engaged and effective volunteer program that supports our mission to protect koalas and their habitats.

You'll inspire and recruit volunteers, create meaningful and achievable roles, and ensure each person feels valued, supported, and empowered. From training and onboarding to long-term engagement, you'll foster a positive volunteer experience that leaves a lasting impact.

Requirements

1. Qualifications & Licenses:

  • Qualifications in social services or a related field and/or equivalent experience in Volunteer Management (3+ years).
  • Drivers License

2. Experience:

  • Leadership experience with responsibility for all aspects of team management and mentoring.
  • Experience in volunteer management.
  • Experience in recruitment, training.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, supporting and managing systems and resources.
  • Demonstrated experience working with organisational vision and goals and influencing volunteers to achieve them.
  • Demonstrated experience building credibility and long-term relationships with volunteers, staff and communities.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including email, excel and word, and the ability to use various databases.

3. Knowledge & Skills required:

  • You inspire through word – written and spoken – and deed. You lead from the front.
  • Ability to advocate for and educate others about the importance of volunteering.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to inspire people to join a mission, and mobilise groups to meet goals.
  • An understanding of “The National Standards for Volunteer Involvement”.
