Friends of the Earth (FoE) Melbourne is a not-for-profit community based organisation working for a socially equitable and environmentally sustainable future for more than 40 years. Friends of the Earth Melbourne is an anti hierarchical organisation and a local member group of the national federation known as Friends of the Earth Australia, which in turn is the country member of Friends of the Earth International.
The broader Friends of the Earth International network has over 5,000 local branches across the globe and is the world's largest grassroots environmental network with over 2 million members and supporters around the world. The Treasurer role on PAC is to work with other PAC members and the Finance Coordinator to ensure the organisation's finances are kept correctly and that the organisation is meeting all of its financial obligations as a Charity and as an Incorporated Association.
The Treasurer will also ensure that the financial statements and reports are created in an appropriate and timely manner and work in conjunction with the FoEM Finance Coordinator, Operations Coordinator and the Gift Fund Committee for oversight of FoEM DGR funds.
Responsibilities Include:
The Treasurer is accountable to PAC and ultimately to the membership of the organisation via Annual General Meetings and the Strategy Collective.
This is a voluntary role. There is no salary.
The Treasurer is required to be a member of FoE Melbourne (the successful applicant will be required to join FoEM for this role).
As a voluntary role the hours may vary depending on the circumstances. Including bi monthly PAC meetings and regular check ins with the Finance Coordinator. This role is approximately 4-8 hours per month.
