THE FRIENDSHIP BAKERY

The Friendship Bakery is a social enterprise that empowers young people living with disability through skills development and workplace experiences – challenging them to take on the responsibility of creating and selling their own baked products. Our development program assists people with disabilities in their path towards employment.

Located in the Mark Moran Vaucluse with access to the public, our bakery serves loyal customers from our local neighbourhood, and offers a subscription delivery service. We offer a delicious range of products including challah, biscuits, cakes, quiches and other baked goods, produced by our inclusive team of bakers with and without disabilities. We strive to be the friendliest bakery with the highest quality ingredients.

The Role

We are seeking a friendly, customer service oriented, experienced hospitality manager to oversee the daily operations of our Bakery. Responsible for the smooth running of the bakery, you will lead and support our team of employees and volunteers to create an inclusive and positive working environment. You will ensure that excellent customer service is provided to our customers, both in store and online.

Your duties will include front of house service, management of team members, managing workflows and production schedules and administrative tasks.

More specifically your responsibilities will include:

  • Smooth running of the day-to-day bakery operations
  • Ensure an excellent face-to-face and online customer experience
  • Coordinate and prepare the delivery of online orders
  • Coordinate rostering of participants, mentors, bakers and volunteers
  • Train, coach and motivate team members, create an inclusive and positive working environment
  • Conduct interviews, orientations and workshops for staff, volunteers, and participants
  • Manage the volunteer engagement initiatives
  • Manage cash and bank deposits
  • Manage stock and inventory levels, ensure high quality products and their sell-by-dates
  • Maintain a good appearance and hygiene level of the store and visual presentation of the baked goods
  • Manage workflows and production schedules of food production
  • Manage the relationship with suppliers and ordering
  • Manage cost and stock levels, of ingredients
  • Maintain WHS, quality and hygiene standards and reduce waste
  • Manage customer feedback
  • Be the ambassador of Friendship Bakery and Friendship Circle International brand and ethos
  • Attend management meetings, as required

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidates will have hospitality management experience, with strong leadership and people management skills.

We are open to considering candidates with a preference to work full time or part time. We are open Monday to Friday, no weekend work is required.
