About the Role

Our team is growing, and we’re looking for a super organised, proactive, and energetic go-getter to join Friendly.

The role covers both events and communications, including:

  1. Coordinating end-to-end delivery of sustainability activation events from project timelines and preparing client proposals through to showing up on-site as a host who gets people excited about reducing waste and recycling.
  2. Coordinating communications campaigns and projects with clients and internal stakeholders that deliver customised waste messaging with a Friendly flair.

This is a varied, hands-on role perfect for someone who loves both the planning and creative communications side and the buzz of live events. No two days are the same, and your work genuinely makes a difference.

What You'll Do

Project & Event Coordination:

  • Lead end-to-end project management for activation events and digital communication campaigns from creative briefing and planning through to on-site execution and wrap-up.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent projects, maintaining clear timelines and ensuring all team members, contractors, and suppliers understand their roles and deliverables.
  • Oversee the procurement and warehousing of activation equipment, event prizes and implement efficient inventory management systems.
  • Create comprehensive post-event reports, analysing performance metrics and gathering insights to drive future improvements.
  • Prepare compelling client proposals to help secure new opportunities.

On-Site Activations:

  • Drive a van and manage the loading, transport, and setup of all promotional materials at event locations across Sydney CBD / metro areas.
  • Be the game host and encourage people to engage, explain the rules, manage the activity, record scores, and contact prize winners.
  • Share insights into better recycling and waste behaviours to inspire lasting change.
  • Capture photos and video content as agreed with clients.
  • Log inventory, note any damage or issues, and ensure all materials are returned and accounted for post-event.

About You

  • You're a great communicator who thrives in event environments and brings a super positive, can-do attitude.
  • You're highly organised and love creating efficient systems that keep projects running smoothly.
  • You have a passion to make a difference and genuinely care about sustainability and our environment.
  • You bring positive energy and proactivity, taking initiative to identify and address issues before they arise.
  • You're an active listener who can adapt to your audience and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • You have great attention to detail and take pride in your professionalism.
  • You're reliable, self-motivated, and keen to learn and grow your skills.
  • You're excited about being part of our journey; you share our vision and are ready to help shape the future of Friendly.

Requirements

  • Valid NSW driver's license
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong skills in Canva.
  • Great presentation skills and confidence engaging with diverse audiences.
  • 3-5 years of experience in events, marketing, or project-related fields.
  • Sustainability, waste or similar experience

Terms

This is an approx 24-hour-per-week casual role with flexible terms to be negotiated. Some days will be events, and some will be coordinating communications and planning. We are a small team and work remotely from home or on site at events, most often in the Sydney CBD. We have a national client base and there could be minimal travel. We enjoy regular get-together opportunities and envisage the right person growing with us into a permanent role.
