About the roleS

Council's City Futures Department is looking for two experienced Senior Social Policy and Planning Officers who will be responsible for social policy development and strategic partnerships to enhance community wellbeing and social outcomes for the Frankston City community.

One of these exciting roles offers the opportunity to develop social policy relating to affordable housing and homelessness.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with key stakeholders on social policy issues, with one of the roles having a key focus on affordable housing and homelessness, to assist with advocacy, social planning and the development of integrated responses to community needs.
  • Developing and implementing a range of evidence-based policies, strategies and plans to deliver social outcomes within Frankston City.
  • Undertaking social research, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and community needs profiling to provide advice and recommendations to influence strategic planning, decision-making and investment in services and community infrastructure.

About you

  • Experience in social policy, including experience relating to affordable housing and homelessness if applying for the role focused on homelessness
  • A passion for evidence-based practice, with demonstrated ability in social research, data analysis and community engagement
  • Strong commitment to social justice and equality with demonstrated knowledge of social policy
  • Ability to apply a knowledge and understanding of social policy concepts and principles, including social, economic and environmental factors.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in arts, social sciences, public policy or related discipline

These positions are both Band 6 and currently remunerated between $89,810.37 to $98,659.52 per annum, plus superannuation.

All staff of are required to have Covid-19 Vaccinations in line with vaccination directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and the Victorian State Government. All positions at Council are covered by Mandatory Vaccination requirements and as such the successful candidate must provide evidence of being Covid-19 Vaccinated to Council as part of the pre-employment process.
