About the role

A natural communicator, relationship builder and connector, the Head of Members and Community will foster and grow the strong community spirit that exists between Franklin Women and its members, as well its network of subscribers and engaged followers. Together these represent a diverse community of women working in different roles, organisations and career levels across the health and medical research ecosystem, as well as their allies.

Calling upon your strong understanding and/or experience within the sector, you will support the Director, to enable the organisation’s transition from a start-up to a sustainable social enterprise through increasing our membership base as well as the reach of the wider Franklin Women community. Ultimately, driving our growth and the positive impact we have on women working in the health and medical research ecosystem.

You will:

  1. Foster relationships with current and potential future Franklin Women members (student and professional), to nurture and grow the Franklin Women community.
  2. Work closely with the Franklin Women team and external stakeholders to lead the on-the-ground implementation of our in-person events.
  3. Be ‘the face’ of Franklin Women at our in-person and virtual events, supporting the founder with welcoming attendees, assuming the role of emcee and other speaking activities as required.
  4. Use insights garnered from the Franklin Women community to inform the design and implementation of new member offerings, both commercial and non-commercial, that provide tangible benefits to women working in the sector while strengthening Franklin Women’s strategic goals.
  5. Represent Franklin Women at sector events and speaking engagements, including but not limited to student forums, networking events and promotional events as required.
  6. Contribute to the reputation and strategic direction of Franklin Women.

This role is permanent part-time role (3-days per week) initially for 12-month period with an expectation of extension. This is a Sydney-based role which can be delivered flexibly based on the successful candidates’ preferences and Franklin Women’s priorities and needs each week. However, attending in person events in Sydney outside normal business hours is an essential requirement of the role.

Franklin Women is a grass-roots social enterprise that has a mission to create a health and medical research ecosystem where women can thrive! We believe investing in women is good for them, their teams and the community who reaps the rewards from their health innovations.

We are a small yet highly effective team who deliver activities across three main pillars: community, events and initiatives. These activities are targeted to women working in diverse roles, career levels and disciplines within the sector as well as the organisations that employ them. We have built a strong, supportive and diverse community who engage with us via monthly e-newsletters, multiple social media platforms and events delivered both in person and online.
