Rebuilding Shattered Lives - supporting refugees to recover from torture and other traumatic events
Foundation House is looking for a passionate and energetic Project Lead to undertake the review of practice resources for GPs, nurses, and allied health services providing health services for people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
The Victorian Refugee Health Network (VRHN) sits within Foundation House’s Community and Sector Capacity Building (CSCB) Program the CSCB program area at Foundation House and has the objective of building the capacity of health, community and settlement services to provide more accessible and appropriate health care for people of refugee backgrounds.
The Australian Refugee Health Practice Guide and the accompanying Refugee Health Assessment are part of a suite of resources to support GPs, nurses, allied health and other primary care providers in undertaking on arrival and ongoing health care for people from refugee backgrounds and people seeking asylum.
The Practice Guide, which was last updated in 2018, requires review and update to incorporate new clinical investigations, recommendations and guidance under current contexts, including an update of referral information and pathways for services for people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds in respective states and territories.
The Project Lead will report to the Program Coordinator – Victorian Refugee Health Network and will lead the review and update of the Practice Guide and manage the day-to-day work of a practice guideline review project.

The role will work in conjunction with a variety of internal and external stakeholders such as the Victorian Refugee Health Network, the Refugee Health Network of Australia, and other Refugee Health Sector experts engaged and established in clinical topic working groups.
This is a newly created part-time (0.8 EFT) position, based in our Brunswick office and will be offered as a 12-month fixed term opportunity.
