The Role

Working closely with our Chief Operating Officer, and leading a small team, the Manager Business Systems is responsible for the effective and secure provision of information technology systems.

A major focus of the role will involve safeguarding BPA from potential cybersecurity threats and data breaches. Our cybersecurity environment includes Endpoint detection and response, risk intelligence, malware detection and cybersecurity training.

This position is also accountable for the management of business applications, internet, network, and desktop computer systems including Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate and Office software), Genesys Cloud and Wordpress.

The incumbent will oversee the analysis, design, acquisition, implementation and maintenance of related systems hardware, software and network infrastructure. Additionally, the position holder will develop and implement modest business applications using Microsoft no code/low code tools.

Key work tasks include:

Cyber Security

  • Safeguard information assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems
  • Recognise problems by reviewing and responding to logs from cyber security systems (Cisco Meraki, Cisco Umbrella, Microsoft Defender, Sentinel One)
  • Liaise with external CS consultants
  • Manage periodic external CS audits and penetration testing
  • Manage BPA’s cyber security training program, including security simulations
  • Provide regular cyber security reports to the Executive Team and Board
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans

Business Intelligence

  • Oversee BPA operational reporting including KPI Dashboards, exception and funding agency reports.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure optimal source data quality
  • Assist with the development of automated report distribution

Information Management

  • Manage and extend BPA’s SharePoint and OneDrive implementation
  • Manage BPA’s Electronic Document Management initiatives
  • Develop and introduce forms based document automation and workflows

General

  • Staff management and leadership
  • Contribute towards greater use and application of technology, including the potential use of AI.
  • Manage technology vendors and service providers
  • Plan and oversee systems installations and maintenance
  • Development and maintenance of BPA IT policies and procedures
  • In conjunction with the COO participate in the ongoing development and implementation of Better Place’s overall strategic goals.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelors degree in IT, computer science, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in IT management
  • Knowledge of contemporary cyber security practices including the Essential 8 maturity model
  • Familiarity with software platforms including Microsoft 365, Azure Cloud and Genesys Cloud

Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience developing commercial Microsoft Power Platform applications.
  • Demonstrable experience using Microsoft Intune
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector
  • Demonstrable experience in driving digital technology applications within clinical services.
  • Knowledge of the Penelope Client Management system or similar systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write Board level reports
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively at all levels within the organisation
  • Highly developed change management skills and the ability to drive change across multiple locations.
  • Excellent customer service and internal consulting skills together with a proven ability to maintain constructive working relationships with a broad range of key stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
