Remote / Work from Home
We are looking for a high energy Project Development Worker to help us take Beyond Bricks & Bars from crowd-funded pilot to sustainable program. We have the runs on the board and the trust of our community to deliver high-quality support and real change. Are you the person to help us get there?
This new role will focus on supporting Beyond Bricks & Bars to achieve long term sustainability through expertly and proactively seeking out funding opportunities. This will involve applying for and acquitting grants; building relationships with philanthropists, Ministers and other potential funders; networking and engaging external stakeholders; and creatively and strategically developing diverse funding pathways to ensure the future of the Project.
The role will also involve drafting organisational documents (such as values statements, intake guidelines, and so on) and developing resources and reports that will inform others who work with criminalised trans and gender diverse people. You will also assist with evaluation, data collection, reporting requirements, and other activities vital to the sustainability of Beyond Bricks and Bars.
This is a ‘behind the scenes’ role that does not involve direct support work with trans people leaving prison or at risk of incarceration. However, you must have a strong understanding of Beyond Bricks and Bars’ values, vision and frameworks, and a willingness to work in a way that centres the lived experience and expertise of the trans and gender diverse people who have been criminalised.
You will work alongside the Support Workers to ensure the voices and needs of criminalised trans and gender diverse people are highlighted in all our submissions and applications. Your role will be to translate practice into policy: to showcase the unique, nuanced and vital work that Beyond Bricks and Bars every day, in a way that funders, government officials and other stakeholders can appreciate. You will need to be able to balance excellent stakeholder engagement with strong abolitionist ethics.
You will be required to work with a high level of autonomy and manage your own workload and deadlines. You have the option of negotiating flexible hours and work arrangements that best suit you. The role is funded at 2 days/week for 6 months (with the possibility of extension if funding can be found).
LGBTIQ+ and particularly Trans and gender diverse people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those with lived experience of criminalisation are strongly encouraged to apply. All employees are expected to be familiar with and operate within the Flat Out organisational framework; including supporting our vision, values and plans.
