Fighting Chance header Jigsaw is on the lookout for a motivated Behaviour Support Coordinator to join our team. The role is central to the successful operations of Jigsaw. This is a permanent part-time 2.5 days/week.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role is crucial in supporting the Jigsaw team to support individuals with complex psychosocial needs and/or complex behaviours. A proactive approach to mental health and supporting NDIS incident management compliance are key aspects of the role.

It aims to increase participants' capacity for learning to assist them to achieve their employment goals through proactive strategies as well as the implementation, education and review of positive behaviour support across Jigsaw. Appropriate clinical supervision structures are in place to support this role's success.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide professional advice, guidance and support to all staff based on Positive Behaviour Support best practice principles, to ensure a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment for people with support needs.
  • Provide support to staff to interpret and implement behaviour support plans to ensure a consistent approach to working with people with disabilities
  • Share learning and provide professional support to our staff, stakeholders and families to ensure competent understanding and awareness of challenging behaviours and the effective implementation of behaviour support plans.
  • Support the provision of objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on behaviour, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence.
  • Management reporting to the Clinical Manager and National Training Manager including a summary of Incidents, and any other reports required by Management and/or Board.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A relevant qualification involving mental health or psychology and 2+ years previous experience in similar program/support service delivery in the disability or similar sector.
  • Experience in relevant areas of practice with people who exhibit challenging behaviours, intellectual and/or cognitive disabilities, and psychosocial support needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the needs of people with a disability.
  • Understanding of mental health and trauma informed practice.
  • A passion for (and/or experience with) working with people with disability.
  • Possess a working knowledge of occupational health and safety practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to support others in understanding the support needs of a person with behaviour support needs.
  • High bandwidth for multi-tasking.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a high level of empathy and interpersonal skills.

REQUIRED TO

  • Possess the right to work in Australia
  • Possess or willing to obtain the new NDIS worker screening check and Working with Children Check
  • Possess or willing to obtain Provide First Aid & CPR
  • Possess a current unrestricted NSW driver's licence
  • Be willing to travel to all states Jigsaw is based in when required. Currently, Jigsaw has hubs in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra
