We are hiring a Business Analyst to analyse existing systems, applications and functions within NSW Trustee and Guardian to ensure strategic ICT objectives are met.

About the role

The Business Analyst reviews and analyses the organisation’s business intentions, services, processes and information needs to identify changes that lead to business improvements. The role also builds and maintains key relationships with users, technical staff and stakeholders to determine and resolve issues. 

The Information Technology division is driving digital innovation and the way we interact with our customers through the development of digital products, IT support, cyber security and information management services.

In the role you will: 

  • Translate business requirements into technical specification including data models and functionality of end user apps (e.g. Business Intelligence solutions)
  • Identify gaps in current availability of data to delivery solution and propose recommendations to address these including new definitions, metrics, dimensions or metadata
  • Work with different teams to identify future data needs to deliver target state or models as per customer needs
  • Conduct investigative work to identify appropriate and practical solutions which meet the needs of the business, align to enterprise standards, and ensure that the team can deliver outcomes
  • Ensure technical specifications communicate user requirements in technical terms for submission to development teams
  • Interpret and translate analysis results into quality technical specifications and or user stories that are insightful, clear and succinct
  • Develop a deep understanding of system functionality and design as well as target state outcomes to ensure that technical specifications are aligned, feasible, sustainable and scalable

This is a temporary role in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013 for a period of up to 12 months.

About you 

You will bring excellent stakeholder engagement skills, ability to influence and quickly build relationships. A commitment to working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to influence business process improvement, support and monitor strategic delivery and promote organisational efficiency and effectiveness.

Essential requirements 

  • Similar relevant experience in a business analyst role
  • Understanding of NSW government and NSWTG’s key services and client base.
