  • Clerk Grade: 11/12. Base salary $131,094 pa to $151,609 pa plus super and annual leave loading.

About the team

The Public Guardian can be appointed by a court or tribunal to make health and lifestyle decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support. These include decisions such as where a person might live, their medical and dental treatment, health care, and other services. It also provides information and support to private and enduring guardians, service providers and the wider community.

About the role

The Assistant Public Guardian, Service Delivery provides leadership and management to all regional teams within the Public Guardian division. The role directs and drives consistent high-quality customer service whilst ensuring legislative compliance. This includes sound leadership of the staff and financial resources for the unit. All decision-making aligns with the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW), NSW Trustee & Guardian’s strategic direction and promotes organisational objectives. The role drives consistent, high quality guardianship practice that is supported by ongoing quality assurance, dynamic operational systems, and strategic collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

About you

You are a high calibre leader with a passion for excellent customer service and experienced in building a culture of continuous improvement. You are a skilled leader who is able to motivate and provide clear strategic direction to your team. You can balance competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment and know how to build strong internal and external relationships. You are skilled at working collaboratively and can communicate effectively with leaders, staff and key stakeholders to drive best practice and optimal outcomes for customers. You are dynamic and able to identify and respond to operational and systemic issues and provide high level advice to the Public Guardian and leadership team to meet operational demands. Demonstrated knowledge of guardianship practice is highly desirable.  

Essential requirements  

  • Degree or equivalent experience in social, health, behavioural sciences or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills for the delivery of services in a complex customer environment.
  • An ability to solve complex human service problems with limited human and financial resources.
  • An ability to develop strong interagency networks that generate outcomes for customers
  • Available to travel throughout NSW and to undertake on call responsibilities to provide support and delegated decision making on a rotational basis.
