Our Healthcare team delivers medical, dental and allied health services from our Ashfield and Blacktown clinics, offering compassionate, high-quality care to those most in need.

About the role:

We’re seeking a compassionate and experienced Dentist to join our SHW team in a part-time capacity, primarily based at our Ashfield clinic, with flexibility to support Blacktown as needed.

This role provides critical oral healthcare services to individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, or other complex vulnerabilities. You’ll be responsible for comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning, as well as performing preventative, restorative and minor surgical procedures in a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive environment.

Please note, this role is fixed term part time, days to be discussed.

What you will do:

• Deliver high-quality dental care, including oral exams, teeth cleaning, fillings, extractions, and restorative treatments.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments including radiographs and oral health screenings.
• Develop tailored treatment plans and educate patients on oral hygiene and preventative care.
• Perform minor oral surgical procedures, administer anaesthetics where required, and prescribe medications.
• Restore teeth with crowns, veneers and fillings; fit and manage dentures as appropriate.
• Supervise and support allied dental staff including hygienists, therapists and prosthetists.
• Collaborate with internal caseworkers and external providers for integrated client care.
• Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records and contribute to continuous improvement.

You will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry (or equivalent), recognised by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Current AHPRA registration and eligibility to practise in Australia
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Dentist
• Diagnostic and treatment planning experience across a broad range of oral health issues
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people with complex needs
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and experience working in community settings is highly regarded
• Compassion and patience to provide care to people with barriers to accessing mainstream dental services
