Your new role and team

The Legal and Engagement team is a high functioning multi-disciplinary team that assists in complex complaints, identifies and investigates systemic issues, drives market improvements, makes policy submissions and seeks to influence consumer protection mechanisms in the energy and water sectors. 

As a sector that is high on the political agenda and rapidly evolving, we’re a team that’s heavy on internal and external stakeholder engagement, including with EWOV’s members, industry bodies, regulators and state and federal government.

As an EWOV Systemic Issues Manager, you will seek to effect systemic improvement in energy and water markets by influencing industry and wider stakeholders. The role involves proactively analysing EWOV’s case insights to identify potential systemic issues and opportunities for continuous improvement, carrying out potential systemic issue investigations and making recommendations for energy and water providers to take actions to resolve systemic issues and improve industry practise. In addition, the Systemic Issues Manager uses insights from EWOV’s complaints to try and influence broader industry change by sharing EWOV’s insights and making referrals to relevant stakeholders.

This position offers full-time hours, with potential consideration for part-time arrangement for the right candidate.

What you’ll bring

To help you succeed in this role you’ll need to bring:

  • Highly developed analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level communication skills (verbal and written), with the proven ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of the Victorian energy and water sector, including knowledge of the regulatory/legislative framework or ability to acquire this knowledge quickly.
  • Ability to communicate complex energy and water issues in plain English.
  • Ability to work with and analyse complaint data to identify possible systemic issues.
  • Experience in complaints, regulation and / or dispute resolution, including an understanding of the key principles of alternative dispute resolution and a sound working understanding of independence.
