Environs Kimberley (EK) is the peak environmental NGO in the Kimberley. We are dedicated to preserving the health of the land and waters of the region through community campaigns, advocacy, and on-the-ground cultural and natural resource management projects.

Our purpose is to protect the nature of the Kimberley, with environmental and social sustainability as guiding principles.

The rolE

This is a fixed-term role to cover parental leave.

The Program Coordinator ensures the successful planning, delivery, and evaluation across EK’s Sustainable Communities program and associated projects. You’ll supervise a small team, manage diverse partnerships and ensure that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and aligned with EK’s strategic vision. This is a dynamic role requiring technical understanding, people skills, and a commitment to collaboration and environmental integrity.

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Program Area Coordination: ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of projects by bringing together planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, and risk management in alignment with EK’s strategic priorities and program objectives in consultation with the Operations Director.
  • Project Delivery: leading each project towards the successful completion of the project outcomes and deliverables.
  • Team Leadership: coordinating the smooth delivery of programs and projects, nurturing a supportive team culture and supporting cross-program collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Relationship: nurturing strong collaborative relationships within EK and with stakeholders and partners to enhance program impact and alignment with EK’s strategic goals.

essential criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Proven ability to lead teams with empathy and accountability, fostering a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills across diverse cultural and community contexts.
  • Knowledge of natural and cultural resource management, conservation, or community development.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder engagement and preparation of funding/grants and progress reports.
  • Experience in business development, including identifying income-generating opportunities and contributing to funding proposals.

desIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Experience living or working in remote or regional Australia, especially in the Kimberley or northern Australia.
  • Qualifications and/or experience in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation, or community development.
  • Familiarity with program evaluation, monitoring frameworks, workplace safety, and contract compliance

Position Title: Program Coordinator - Sustainable Communities

Position Type: Part-time Parental Leave Cover (12 months)

Location: Broome, Western Australia

Classification/Salary: SCHADS Award Level 6.1, $104,988 per annum (pro rata) + superannuation
