Empower Living, a NDIS registered organisation in Canberra specialising in complex client cohorts. We are URGENTLY looking for skilled, professional, enthusiastic, and experienced staff to support participants with complex diagnosis.

Qualifications & experience

• Experience in disability care especially mental health disorders
• Experience in dealing with challenging behaviours
• Males and Females applicants needed
• Have an outgoing personality with a good sense of humour
• Have full driving licence and access to a fully insured car
• Must have a genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with disabilities
• Have a strong background in mental health
• Be soft-spoken while firm enough to set boundaries according to the protocols and guidelines provided
• Have excellent communication skills and be proficient in English
• Be able to create rapport with the client and provide emotional support with demonstrated effective listening, empathy, and communication skills
• Have previous experience and skills in de-escalation techniques.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Engaging with participants, community access, grocery shopping, going for walks, activities, etc.
• Providing emotional support when needed and following the set protocols
• Prompting and assisting in all daily house chores and skill building
• Communicating with participants according to their interests and needs
• Ensure daily routines are followed through and recorded
• Write regular reports and collect data for ongoing communication with clients and management
• Drive them to and from appointments
• Be interested in genuinely doing your best in the participant's interest
• Be proactive in the team and for the participants's wellbeing, goals and achievements.

Must be

• Flexible in your schedule
• Able and willing to work on rotating roster
• Able and willing to do sleepovers and active nights
• Able and willing to do 2 hours shifts as well.
