Who are we?

Elder Rights Advocacy (ERA) supports older people, their families and representatives in Victoria address issues related to Commonwealth funded aged care services. Our service is free, independent, and confidential.

We promote the rights of older people and ensure that that their voice is heard.

Our job is to provide information that empowers older people to make informed decisions about the care and services they receive and to stand beside them when they raise issues or concerns with aged care providers.

We are a founding member of the national Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), delivering the National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) and the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS).

All staff at ERA work remotely from home and come together for one-day meetings in Melbourne CBD approximately every six-eight weeks. Staff are set up with equipment in their homes that is OH&S compliant. We take very seriously the health and wellbeing of our staff who told us they wished to work remotely post COVID restrictions. We can now service our clients more effectively as we draw our workforce from across Victoria.

The Opportunity

Due to retirement, an opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Programs Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and as a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will have oversight of the NACAP and ACVVS Programs. As the Programs Manager you will be responsible for the leadership and support of the programs to ensure successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide strong leadership and expertise on best practice and service quality.
  • Develop a culture open to staff learning and development which empowers the team to meet the needs of the older person.
  • Review and develop policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legislation and company values.
  • Oversee NACAP and ACCVS funding reporting to our peak body and the Department of Health and Ageing.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure community information and education sessions are carried out meeting required targets.
  • Oversight of the organisations communications, marketing, and community events to ensure ERA has a strong presence in the aged care sector.
  • Proactively manage and oversee the complaints and feedback system.
  • Manage Continuous Improvement process and chair the CI committee.
  • Participate in the strategic, business and budget planning processes.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with the organisation values and meets the needs of the older person.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience working at a programs management level or similar with at least 2 years’ experience.
  • Experience in the aged care and/or community home care sectors.
  • Experience overseeing PR and marketing advantageous but not essential.
  • Advocacy experience desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working with CRM systems, Salesforce desirable.
  • IT savvy is advantageous.
  • High level knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative frameworks.
  • A collaborative, self-aware leader with the ability to adapt to changes that may arise in the aged care industry.
  • High level problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to lead and mentor high performing teams.
  • A strong commitment to ensuring the voices of older Victorians are heard.
  • A current National Police check or willingness to undergo a check.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • $130k + 11% superannuation
