About the organisation:

Edmund Rice Camps SA (ERCSA) is a non-profit organisation that trades under Edmund Rice Services Ltd. (ERSL). It is governed by the Edmund Rice Ministries Oceania (ERMO) Board. ERCSA operates as a business unit, with an Advisory Board that supports the mission, strategy and operations of the organisation.

ERCSA provides a range of services to support children and young people facing a range of adversities. ERCSA is one of several Edmund Rice Camps’ programs operating in Oceania Province and is part of the wider expression of the mission of the Christian Brothers that includes Social Justice and Advocacy Centres, Refugee and Indigenous Outreach Programs, and other services to people on the margins. The Senior Program Coordinator will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the national identity of Edmund Rice Camps across Australia and collaborate with key personnel from other regions in this development.

Position’s Purpose:

Key components of the ERCSA Community Support Coordinator role are the intake and registration of client referrals for ERCSA services and programs and the engagement and stakeholder management specific to referral agencies and families. The Community Support Coordinator collaborates with the Senior Program Coordinator in the development of all ERCSA programmes. The Community Support Coordinator will play a key role in the provision of camps and other activities. The position takes an active and leading role in profiling the organisation and in consultation with the Manager - ERCSA and ERCSA Advisory Board, the delivery of major events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, facilitate and manage stakeholder engagement in programs
  • Work with Senior management in the development of programs
  • Build relationships with key external stakeholders
  • Promote the work of ERCSA through digital platforms and networking opportunities
  • Provide administrative support including maintaining an accurate database
  • Ensure programs meet ERCSA and Child Safety and Protection policies, protocols and procedures
  • Facilitate meetings, provide program reports to the ERCSA Manager

Work Conditions

The role requires the individual to:

  • To be available to attend meetings and events as required
  • To work evenings, weekends and school holidays as required
  • To work extended hours if required
  • To participate in indoor/outdoor recreational settings

Child Protection:

As this is a child-related position, applicants for the position will be the subject to:

  • Working with Children Check and Clearance
  • Federal Police Check and Clearance
  • Comply with the Oceania Province of the Christian Brothers’ Child Care, Safety & Protection Policy and Reporting Protocol

Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, community development, counselling or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role working with young people and families
  • Experience in or a demonstrated capacity to:
    • Plan and conduct events
    • Maintain security, discretion and confidentiality over sensitive information
    • Work proficiently with the Office suite of products
    • Manage a database
    • Manage social media accounts
  • Be able to work weekends and evenings, and residential camps as required.
  • Have an unrestricted driver’s license with a willingness to obtain LR license
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet the demands of the role including weekend and evening work
  • Ability to work successfully with a religious institute or faith-based agency
  • An appreciation of and commitment to Mission within the context of the Edmund Rice charism with the Edmund Rice tradition
  • Ability to work form a family system, strengths-based and community-based service model
  • Capacity to work with organisations and people across different contexts and cultures
  • Compliance with statutory and Province requirements with respect to Child Safety and legal standing

The position is part-time and for a maximum term 12 months including a 3 month probation period and commencing January 2021.
