ABOUT US

Edgar’s Mission is a not-for-profit sanctuary for rescued farmed animals that seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and non-humans. Set on 153 peaceable acres situated just outside of Lancefield, the sanctuary is nestled in the tranquillity of the Macedon Ranges.

Edgar’s Mission rescues, rehabilitates, rehomes, or provides life-long sanctuary to farmed animals in need. At any one time we provide a safe haven to between 400 and 500 farmed animals. Through education, outreach, advocacy, community enrichment and sanctuary tours, we encourage people to expand their circle of compassion to include all animals.

POSITION PURPOSE

This role is dynamic role responsible for the strategy, implementation and reporting of all aspects of community engagement and advocacy. Leading a small team, you will help to raise awareness of Edgar’s Mission by overseeing fundraising and advocacy campaigns, marketing, supporter communications, public enquiries, rehoming, social media, merchandise, tours, tiny houses, rehoming, volunteer tour groups, events, sanctuary signage, and more.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities are detailed in the attached position description and include:

  • Overseeing and supporting the community engagement team of 5 direct reports.
  • Setting up strategic plans, establishing targets, implementation and reporting campaigns through the year including Be Kind to Animals Week, All Mother's Day and Kind Christmas.
  • Establish marketing integrated marketing campaigns and events schedule
  • Preparation of enewsletters, and creative writing briefs
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with external parties including media, animal advocacy groups, ambassadors and more.
  • Strategic planning and direction for social media campaigns.
  • Plan and co-ordinate fundraising initiatives.
  • Strategic planning of onsite learning experiences.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

The candidate will be selected based on:

  • Experience in managing a multidisciplinary team, with the ability to deliver constructive and timely feedback when required.
  • Ability to create an integrated marketing campaign strategy and write clear and concise marketing briefs across web, email, and social paid ads, and work with a team to deliver it on time and on budget.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences with effective content.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including copywriting experience and public speaking skills.
  • Strong organisational, multi-tasking and prioritising skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated planning and problem-solving ability.
  • A creative and innovative flare
  • A team player with a willingness to help other team members when needed.
  • The ability to work independently and set a strong example to others.
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Personal commitment to the goals and values of Edgar’s Mission and the promotion of kindness.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in marketing or communications.

Desirable

  • Formal qualifications in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience across digital software platforms such as GSuite, Salesforce, Wordpress, Active Campaign or MailChimp and more.
  • Experience in fundraising strategy and implementation.
  • Sound knowledge of animal welfare and health needs of farmed animals.

RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to undergo a national police check
  • Willingness to undergo a psychometric test
  • Current and valid Victorian driver’s licence
  • Current working with children’s check.
