Kin Disability Advocacy Inc (Kin) is a NFP that provides state-wide advocacy services to ethno-culturally and linguistically diverse (ELD) people with disability, their families/carers. Kin also works with other agencies to raise awareness of issues impacting on people with disability from ELD and Aboriginal backgrounds.
Kin is seeking to employ two full-time Individual Advocacy Officer to 30 June 2023. Part-time arrangements will be considered. Individual Advocacy Officers will provide individual advocacy support, information, and referral services to ELD people with disability, their families/carers experiencing issues of discrimination, abuse and barriers to accessing appropriate supports and services.
The successful applicant will be expected to have experience and skills in individual advocacy casework. They will have experience and/or knowledge of services and community work in migrant and refugee communities in WA. They will possess sound interpersonal and communication skills to effectively participate in, liaise and network with relevant services and committees. The successful applicant must be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and in a small team environment. An understanding of the NDIS Appeals process is preferred.
The position will be based at Kin’s headquarters in Osborne Park and will be required to undertake outreach to sites across the metropolitan area. The position relies heavily on the use of on-site and telephone interpreters and, given KIN’s statewide brief, the use of teleconferencing and videoconferencing tools to deliver services to people living outside the metro area.
Salary: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 5.3. Salary packaging options are available within ATO limits and guidelines. Regular support, training and professional development opportunities are provided.
