As Junior/Senior Geochemist/Environment Geoscientist, you will provide project support for environmental projects, for a wide range of public and private sector clients both in Australia and overseas. You will be responsible for helping to design, conduct and document a broad range of environmentally focused projects. Opportunities exist both at the Junior or Senior level.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assisting with the conduct of field investigations associated with geochemical assessments, water quality studies, gas composition studies, design and implementation of remedial activities, passive and active treatment projects, installation and data collection associated with monitoring programs, tailings and waste rock design and management projects, groundwater assessments, subcontractor supervision, project coordination with analytical laboratories
- Preparing cost estimates and proposals
- Preparation of technical reports
- Assisting with data interrogation, assessment, interpretation, display and reporting
- Preparation of figures/maps/tables/boring log/cross-sections…etc
- Routinely travelling throughout Australia and overseas on project work
- Assisting with the conduct of geochemical and geotechnical test work in Earth Systems’ laboratory
Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification(s)
- Appropriate post-graduate qualifications will be an advantage
- Specific knowledge of one or more of the following will be an advantage: geochemistry, geology, water chemistry, chemical engineering and the mining
- An understanding of the assessment and management of Acid and Metalliferous Drainage (AMD or ARD) will be an advantage
- The desire and ability to contribute to regular, challenging fieldwork programs, often in remote locations
- The skills to manage complex data collection and manipulation projects
- Advanced attention to detail
- Leadership capabilities and the ability to deliver projects to a high technical standard
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Exceptional written and verbal English language communication skills (proficiency in a second language will be highly regarded)

The position will be based in the Melbourne office, with significant opportunities to work overseas. An attractive salary package will be provided depending on experience.
