ABOUT THE ROLE :

This position will provide a full range of executive support and high-level administration services to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). It will also provide administrative support services to other Executive members and the President as required.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to persuade, negotiate and influence.
  • Highly developed organisational skills with proven ability to operate calmly and efficiently under pressure, deal effectively with competing demands, produce high quality work within limited timeframes, and be adaptable to change.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders including an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively in line with Council’s values.
  • Proven capacity to maintain a high degree of discretion and exercise sound judgement in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Highly proficient computer skills including experience in the Microsoft suite (advanced Excel desirable), internet and e-mail.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team member.
  • Ability to use initiative and judgement combined with excellent problem solving skills.
  • Current NT Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel in light aircraft and/or on unsealed roads to remote communities.

IT WOULD BE DESIRABLE IF YOU ALSO POSSESSED:

  • Previous experience working or living within an Indigenous setting and ability to demonstrate a high level of cross-cultural awareness in the workplace.
  • Awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people to ensure effective participation in a cross-cultural environment.

NOTE: Housing is not provided with this role. Access to own housing in the Nhulunbuy area is a must for the successful candidate. The preferred applicant will also be required to undergo a Criminal History Check and obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position.

What you'll get in return:

A Full Time – Permanent position receiving a salary of $84,632.48, plus superannuation and locality allowance. You will also benefit from 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.
