Are you a Mental Health Clinician who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for a motivated and skilled clinician to join our headspace team at Cranbourne West Secondary College.

As the successful applicant, your work as a Mental Health Clinician will help us provide youth-friendly mental health services which are tailored to the individual needs of students. You will play an essential role in helping students access mental health support through risk and discipline specific assessments, individual counselling, and evidenced-based group programs. With your expertise and commitment, you will bridge students to external mental health services and coordinate their care path along with the well-being team of the school.

About you

You will have a passion for working with young people to deliver therapeutic interventions, as well as a demonstrated understanding of school culture and the challenging problems faced by young people.

To excel in this role, you will also have:

  • Approved tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration or eligibility for membership with the association in your field
  • Experience working within a Secondary School context and providing MSE, risk and discipline specific assessments
  • Ability to maintain positive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong commitment to professional practice, ethical principles and standards, service delivery and performance
  • Ability to interpret and utilise evidence-based practice frameworks and apply them within a contemporary model of working with young people and their families/carers
  • A thorough understanding of the mental health and broader service system

With your high level of interpersonal and communication skills, problem-solving and negotiation skills, you will be specially equipped to speak with young people in the early stages of help-seeking.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at a brand-new school, and as part of an exciting new partnership with headspace!

Reporting to the Senior Clinician - School Services, you will form part of the School Services Team which consists of a number of schools across the Casey Cardinia region, and across headspace centres at Narre Warren & Pakenham.

Working collaboratively with other professionals at Cranbourne West Secondary College, you will be well-supported by the Team Lead, Principal and other members of the school leadership team and external health professionals/services where necessary.
