Join Our Team as a Community Health Counsellor!

  • Location: Patterson street, Ringwood East on the lands of the Wurundjeri People
  • Position Type: Part-time, 4 days a week
  • Rate: $48 - $50 per hour

EACH is seeking a compassionate and skilled Therapeutic Counsellor to join our team. If you are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of adults and families as well as the qualifications and experience to provide high-quality trauma-informed care, we want to hear from you!

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate closely with a diverse multidisciplinary team, including Art Therapists, Counsellors, and Psychologists. You'll also be integrated into the broader allied health team, working alongside Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Dieticians.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Trauma-Informed Care: Deliver a variety of therapeutic counselling and casework services to adults and families, both onsite and via telehealth.
  • Comprehensive Screening: Conduct screenings for family violence (MARAM), mental health concerns, and substance use issues, providing appropriate referral pathways.
  • Risk Assessment & Safety Planning: Perform continuous risk assessments and develop child-focused safety plans.
  • Goal Setting & Interventions: Support clients in identifying goals and developing therapeutic plans suitable for an 8-10 session model.
  • Culturally Sensitive Services: Provide services that are respectful and inclusive of minority groups, including Indigenous, CALD, and LGBTIQ+ communities.
  • Casework Support: Offer thorough casework support, including follow-up, referrals, and advocacy to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
  • Client Intake: Participate in intake and initial assessments to facilitate access to counselling and casework programs.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and facilitate health and well-being sessions, as well as other community group activities.
  • Collaboration: Maintain close links with other health and community agencies to enable seamless referral and collaborative service provision.
  • Team Participation: Actively engage in the multidisciplinary team through meetings, supervision, and management reporting.
  • Quality & Innovation: Foster a culture of quality and innovation, supporting EACH’s quality improvement and accreditation systems.
  • Service Development: Contribute to the ongoing review and development of counselling services to align with current best practices.
  • Client Feedback: Regularly obtain and review client feedback to ensure customer satisfaction.

Who You Are

  • MARAM Training: Understanding of the Family Violence and Child Information Sharing Scheme.
  • Counselling Frameworks: Proficiency in trauma-informed counselling and casework frameworks suitable for an 8-10 session model.
  • Assessment & Care Planning: Strong skills in assessment, co-designed care planning, and goal-focused care delivery.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work or a similar counselling and casework qualification.
  • Eligibility for registration with AASW or another professional counselling association.
