Safe and Equal is the peak body for Victorian organisations that specialise in family and gender-based violence across the continuum, including primary prevention, early intervention, recovery and response. The interests of people experiencing, recovering from, or at risk of, family violence is at the heart of everything we do. Our vision is a world beyond family and gender-based violence, where women, children and people from marginalised communities are safe, thriving, and respected.
At Safe and Equal, we are committed to creating an inclusive organisation. We strongly encourage people from all backgrounds to apply to work with us, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people of colour and people from migrant and refuge communities, people of any age or gender, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex and/or queer (LGBTIQA+) people, people with lived experience of family violence, and people with disability. We also consider applicants regardless of contact with the justice system and experiences of criminalisation, consistent with our legal requirement.
We are committed to fostering a work environment where everybody can bring their whole self, belong and succeed. We are a proud Equal Opportunity employer and do not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment. We celebrate and support difference and know that one size doesn’t fit all – we endeavour to be flexible, meet your needs, and support you at every stage of your contact with us.
Our office is located in Carlton, with flexible and remote options available. We encourage applications from candidates based in rural and regional Victoria. We remain open to new approaches and actively foster an inclusive workplace that celebrates the contribution made by all our people.
Safe and Equal offers employees a monthly RDO option, individual annual Professional Development budget, generous leave benefits including (but not limited to) Christmas Shutdown Leave, Gender Affirmation leave, Family Violence Leave and Cultural and Ceremonial Leave, and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
The Communications team is small and mighty. We are currently a team of three, responsible for effective marketing and communications on behalf of and in collaboration with stakeholders across the organisation, member services and other partner organisations. We are responsible for public-facing campaigns, as well as media engagement. We think of ourselves as extensions to each team in Safe and Equal.
Here are some examples of what you will achieve in the next 12 months as Marketing and Communications Officer:
Contribute to the strategic planning and creative production of campaigns, promotions and events, including hallmark campaign Are You Safe at Home? Day on 10 May.
Maintain day-to-day social media channels, including the design of social media assets and development of content, liaising with subject matter experts across the organisation.
Work alongside the Media and Communications Advisor to ensure consistent messaging across internal and external communications, and all channels.
Liaise with colleagues from across the organisation to develop content for newsletters and bulletins and ensure website content is up to date.
Below are some skills and experience that you help you succeed in this role. While these things will be highly valued, we recognise that meeting all selection criteria for any role can be challenging.
