An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Down Syndrome Victoria (DSV) team as our Events Coordinator. This role is responsible for the safe and successful running of DSV events.

This role is a permanent part-time role (15 hours per week). The ideal candidate will have experience running events, and a proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders. A desire to contribute to DSV's vision of a society where people with Down syndrome are valued, reach their potential and are equal in every aspect of life is a must.

ABOUT US

Down Syndrome Victoria is the state-wide peak membership organisation representing individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Down Syndrome Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1978 to provide support, information and resources to people with Down syndrome, their families and the broader community.

We work alongside people with Down syndrome and their families to reach their potential and live the lives they choose.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful applicant will join our hardworking and creative team and will report directly to the DSV Communications Manager. Central to our events calendar are three major annual events: World Down Syndrome Day - Family Fun Day and Parliament House (March) and StepUP! (October). These events play an important role in the connection and support of families and individuals across the Victorian community and contribute to DSV strategic deliverables.

We need an enthusiastic and motivated Events Coordinator to:

  • Plan and deliver successful events that align with DSV strategic goals
  • Ensure events are compliant with the various regulations and risks appropriately managed to ensure the safety of all attendees, staff, volunteers, and the community
  • Engage with potential sponsors, partners and donors to offset costs and/or maximise fundraising opportunities
  • Increase community knowledge and awareness of the skills and abilities of people with Down syndrome
  • Ensure DSV events are fun to be a part of for our community!
