An exciting and unique opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council as Adviser, Governance, Legal and Regulatory to contribute to the ground-breaking work in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.
The responsibilities of the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council include registering, monitoring, and supporting Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAPs) to exercise cultural heritage responsibilities in their local areas as well as the management of Aboriginal Ancestral Remains and Secret and Sacred Objects.
As the Adviser, Governance, Legal and Regulatory, you will develop strong relationships with Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAPs) to achieve Council's strategic priorities, especially as they concern Council's legal responsibilities to manage, oversee and supervise RAPs. Undertaking research and analysis relating to applications received from Traditional Owner groups around Victoria seeking appointment as a RAP by the Council will also be an essential requirement of this role.
