The Role

The NSW Sector Strengthening Project Manager will build and lead a small project team to leverage the existing capabilities and expertise within NSW Aboriginal Communities. They will build a common understanding of disability (from a human rights lens), identify organisational and community strengths and opportunities, and build capacity to better engage and enable First Nations people living with disability.

  • Work with the Director of NSW to build and lead a Sector Strengthening team to deliver the project
  • Develop and implement an overarching project plan within the scope of the work to be completed, as well as managing the project from conception to close.
  • Monitor project deliverables in line with funding obligations, and adapt project activities accordingly

About You

  • A demonstrated understanding of self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living with disability
  • Demonstrated capacity to work positively with Communities, ACCOs and Governments
  • A knowledge and understanding of Australia’s and New South Wales closing the gap and disability systems including current policies and reforms and being implemented by Australian Governments
  • Demonstrate a problem-solving mindset that can navigate uncertainties and unexpected challenges
  • Community Engagement Experience
  • Experience in building and leading a small team
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
