Are you passionate about being part of positive change for marginalised communities? Do you take pride in being creative in communicating with different audiences? If you answered yes then we want to hear from you.
The First Peoples Disability Network is recruiting for two Communications Officers to join us in our aim to truly Close the Gap for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living with disabilities. Our aim is to ensure every one of us not only survives but thrives.
Our organisation is almost exclusively made up of people with lived experience of disabilities and/or from First Nations backgrounds, whether we are disabled ourselves or we care for people with disabilities. As an Aboriginal controlled organisation we do things a little differently, and that includes recruitment.
We’re looking for two people to help us with the below skills. You may be a unicorn who has done all of the below, or you may be a specialist in a few of these areas. What’s important to us is an ability to communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disabled people in a culturally-safe way, with clarity and respect.
We want to hear from you about what you love doing from the above list and why you want to work with us. Tell us about who you are, why you care about our work and how you can help us be even more effective.
Working with FPDN is not just a job. We care deeply about what we do and the people we’re working for. We get to kick a lot of goals regularly and we all have the satisfaction of knowing we are part of something bigger. We encourage you to reach out to us for a yarn at any point. It’s important that you feel we’re the right fit for you as much as you’re the right fit for us. We offer an extremely inclusive and caring environment to work in, and plenty of flexibility and support in accommodating disabilities. No matter where you live in Australia, if you think you can help us with our communications we want to hear from you.
Please contact our National Communications Manager, Luke Briscos at [email protected] using the subject line: Communications Officer - Remote / Work from Home enquiry via EthicalJobs or via 0407 773 259.

When applying for these roles, please tell us more about your skills and experience in relation to the above list however you would like, whether that be a cover letter, a video about yourself, or any other way you want to tell your story.
We will prioritise Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants. As part of our recruitment process short listed applicants will be required to undertake a National Police Check.
