Directions Health Services is an innovative non-profit organisation that has provided specialist alcohol and other drug (AOD) services in the ACT and NSW for more than 40 years. Today we offer a comprehensive suite of holistic AOD, mental health and primary health services that aim to reduce harms experienced by individuals, families and communities and improve overall health and wellbeing. Directions’ service delivery team includes a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Social Workers, Counsellors, Aboriginal Health Workers, Case Managers, Peer Workers, Support Workers, GPs, Registered Nurses, Pharmacists and Chemical Analysts. Our capacity to implement innovative services developed in collaboration with our clients, partners, and other stakeholders, enables us to effectively respond to changing needs of the communities we serve.
Arcadia House is a 12-bed Therapeutic Community (TC) rehabilitation facility offering residential, withdrawal and day programs to support clients abstain from AOD use. As a TC, the house community itself, through self-help and mutual support, is the principal means for promoting personal change for Arcadia clients. Arcadia offers case management, counselling, therapeutic groups, and relapse prevention services to support clients through recovery. Arcadia House and the broader Directions team strives to provide a warm and welcoming environment where all employees and clients feel valued and supported.
As an AOD Support Worker you will provide support to Arcadia residents and actively inform clients about programs provided by Directions and other relevant services. We are seeking people who are motivated to participate in continuous quality improvement and safety initiatives and who understand the importance of client confidentiality and professional boundaries. Arcadia House is a 24-hour residential facility, and you will be required to work night shifts and weekends.
All appointments will be conditional upon having a Working with Vulnerable People registration, current First Aid and CPR certification and a satisfactory National Police Check.
