  • Work Type: 12 -month contract, with ongoing work opportunities
  • Remuneration: $40K-$50K inc. 10% nominated super (outcome based contract that is a part-time workload negotiated with the Board)

Digi Youth Arts is a not-for-profit arts organisation that shares the stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. We are looking for an Artistic Director that can work across all DYA’s 2023 projects & programs. You will use your skills in artistic leadership, project management, storytelling, arts production, and community engagement to help deliver projects including: unsettle, remake-regenerate-reclaim and Youth Artists Workshops.

  • Lead artistic vision and programming for Digi Youth Arts
  • Contribute to artistic programs through skilled application of personal arts practice
  • Facilitate project management of all Digi Youth Arts projects and manage staff & contracted artists
  • To manage and adhere to record keeping processes for all components of all projects
  • To manage the monitoring and evaluation of Digi Youth Arts projects; including reporting directly to the Digi Youth Arts board & grant providers
  • Assist in the development and implementation of organisational strategies, including community engagement and DYA sub-committees
  • Oversee financial management of projects, creating budgets & maintaining financial processes
  • Manage partnerships, and identify new partnership opportunities

SELECTION CRITERIA + KEY ATTRIBUTES

  • This is an identified First Nations Position, based in South-East Queensland, with work in Brisbane. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Applicants should have:

  • A highly active and accepted member of the so-called Queensland accepted Indigenous community; with National and International reach  
  • In depth understanding of the Arts, Creative, Community and Cultural Development sectors 
  • Advocacy skills within government, sector and community settings 
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people 
  • Highly effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership of Indigenous organisations and/or projects 
  • Able to inspire and mentor staff, partners and artists 
  • Ability to develop and implement creative business and not for profit organisational strategy 
  • Proficient across Microsoft like software, Google Drive, DropBox, Project Management software and social media platforms 
  • Basic design skills 
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Blue Card and Public Liability Insurance
  • Driver's license (and vehicle ideal)
