Leading and guiding the Philanthropy team, the position of Manager, Philanthropy is responsible for executing the Planned and Major Giving Strategy, and annual Business Development Plan, through best practice supporter development and care for existing and prospective supporters; and assisting the Business Development department to attain its objectives.

This is a full-time, fixed-term parental leave cover position until March 2023. This role is able to be worked entirely remote, from home.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing the Planned and Major Giving Strategy, and annual Business Development Plan, with the support of the Philanthropy team;
  • Identifying and converting supporters who are, or may become, middle and major donors;
  • Promoting leaving a bequest to Diabetes Victoria to potential bequestors and escalating supporters through the moves management pipeline;
  • Maintaining a program of best practice stewardship with planned and major giving supporters and prospects through face-to-face visits, phone calls and events to ensure their continued support;
  • Developing compelling and detailed cases for support, impact reporting, proposals, and other necessary collateral and assets as required;
  • Ensuring strategy and philanthropic alignment with the mission and strategic priorities of Diabetes Victoria; and
  • Encouraging and supporting people who have the capacity to make a major gift to pursue their philanthropic goals by supporting Diabetes Victoria with their gift.

Demonstrated previous experience in a similar role such as philanthropy, major giving or bequests is preferred. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate high levels of computer literacy, database management and experience working with CRM systems (Salesforce experience is desirable); and experience implementing moves management strategies for a pipeline of major and bequest donor supporters and prospects.

The role would suit someone with strong skills in networking and relationship management & development; consultation and collaboration; direct marketing; and communication including written, verbal and presentation delivery.

Please note, eligibility for membership of the Fundraising Institute of Australia; a police check and a valid Victorian Drivers Licence are requirements of this role.
