JOB DESCRIPTION

DEVILS@CRADLE is an award-winning wildlife conservation sanctuary focussing on endangered carnivorous marsupials, located at the entrance to the spectacular wilderness of Cradle Mountain National Park. The sanctuary is open to visitors year-round, day and night, and is a premier tourism experience in Tasmania.

We are looking for someone to join our Animal keeper & Tour guide team and are applications from enthusiastic and motivated candidates with experience in animal keeping and providing engaging animal talks and experiences for our guests.

Employed on a ‘4 on - 3 off’ basis, you will be expected to work a minimum of 32 hours per week and play a key role in our Animal keeper and Tour guide team. This is a 6-month fixed term role with the potential to become permanent.

Self-contained accommodation is provided on-site if required.

SELECTION CRITERIA

• Well-developed organisational skills including the capacity to effectively work within a team within a remote environment.
• Demonstrated experience in the zoological, conservation industry or a related business field, including the ability to deliver outstanding care to our animals.
• Experience in the husbandry of carnivorous marsupials including devils and quolls is an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in a guest or customer facing role in the tourism, hospitality or similar service industry, with well-developed interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Office.
• A current driving licence and vehicle.

• Animal welfare – delivering a high standard of animal welfare
• Animal record keeping – ability to keep accurate electronic and paper records
• Tour guiding – delivering animal encounters and educational talks to our visitors
• Sanctuary maintenance and cleaning.
