Desert Knowledge Australia (DKA) is a statutory authority of the Northern Territory, established in 2003 to encourage learning, research, and sustainable socioeconomic development for communities in desert and arid zones. DKA focuses on strengthening remote Australia by leveraging the potential of the people, places, and knowledge of the desert.
We’re looking for an experienced community development professional to help drive forward the exciting new Remote Focus initiative at DKA. Use your partnership building skills to help remote communities become more liveable and sustainable, places where local people can have their say on services and governance.
The Remote Focus Coordinator will have experience working with remote communities and understand the needs, challenges, and opportunities for improving community sustainability and liveability in Central Australia. The key areas of focus for the initiative include: water, renewable energy, food security, housing and workforce development in remote communities and homelands.
This role involves extensive collaboration with various stakeholders, including remote Aboriginal communities, government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, and the private sector.
Full-time, 38 hrs per week, flexible arrangements by negotiation. 12-month contract.
AO7 — $111,704 + leave loading and superannuation.
Six weeks annual leave and three weeks personal leave, including cultural leave.
