Role Details

The Senior Project Officer, Commissioning and Outcomes is a role within the Inclusion Policy and Reform directorate and is accountable to the Commissioning and Outcomes Lead for:

  • Providing expert advice and producing high quality resources that contribute to projects that support embedding of a commissioning and outcomes approach across DHS.
  • Researching best practice and evidence related to commissioning practice and outcomes measurement and advising on relevant methodologies and tools.
  • Working collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive results for commissioning for outcomes in DHS.

Key outcomes and accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with DHS’s internal and external stakeholders in planning for and/or undertaking projects to support embedding of commissioning and outcomes approaches.
  • Provide support and advice to team members and stakeholders related to outcomes measurement and commissioning practice.
  • Undertake consultation and negotiation with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Recommend and use a range of outcomes measurement approaches which are fit-for-purposes according to the evidence required.
  • Prepare high quality written documents, including briefings and reports to a range of stakeholders within the required deadlines.
  • Consistently demonstrate a commitment to quality standards, proactively identify improvements and show support in addressing improvement needs.
  • Actively contribute to the development and improvement of systems to facilitate best practice processes that underpin the department’s objectives.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies across DHS to promote a professional profile to internal and external clients.

Note: Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department. The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the role.

  • Employment-related Screening Check required.
  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
  • Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
  • Role Status: Term up to 29/10/2027.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise gained from training, professional accreditation and/or experience is desirable.

Our Inclusion, Supports and Safeguarding Division brings together policy and reform advice, while helping those experiencing vulnerability to participate safely and securely in our economy and remain connected with the community. It also provides grants to community groups and non-government organisations to expand services to support people and offers interpreting services in 110 languages, including several First Nations.
