Role Details

The Department of Human Services is recruiting for a Screening Transformation program, a two-year initiative aimed at modernising screening services for the future.

The Screening Transformation program will deliver an improved screening system to contribute to safeguarding vulnerable people (including children), while providing a fair and robust process for people seeking to join the workforce or volunteer.

You will gain exposure to a multi-faceted program of work, using state of the art process and data automation to review and improve operational efficiencies and enable more timely screening outcomes.

Improving the efficiency of the screening system will enable organisations to focus on service delivery, and enable workers and volunteers to start serving the community sooner.

The Screening Transformation program will:

  • Improve customer experience for individuals
  • Alleviate administrative burden on registered organisations
  • Enhance system stability and performance
  • Expanded system capacity for future adaptations
  • Realise internal operational efficiency and improvements.

About the Role

The Program Support Officer is a role within the Finance and Business Services division and will play a crucial role in supporting the execution of projects and deliverables within the Screening Transformation Program.

The Program Support Officer is accountable to the Director, Screening Transformation for:

  • Providing a range of administrative and project support services which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the Screening Transformation Program.
  • Assisting project managers and team members in administrative tasks, documentation, coordination, and communication.
  • Building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.

Key Outcomes and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain timelines and provide regular program reports/updates, coordinate briefing activities and other relevant correspondence as required.
  2. Provide project coordination and project management support by developing and reviewing program and planning schedules, preparing detailed reports and coordinating all relevant project reporting requirements, and administration tasks across the Screening Transformation Program.
  3. Undertake general administrative duties to support the management of program delivery and team operations including diary management, meeting and workshop coordination, preparation of meeting agendas and documentation, compilation of meeting minutes and coordination of training, travel and events.
  4. Provide a range of human resources, procurement, administration, and financial support services in accordance with DHS policy, procedures, and processes.
  5. Maintain project management and administration records, databases processes and systems with a high degree of accuracy to ensure data and information is fit for purpose. 
  6. Build positive and effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders through formal and informal communication strategies based on a professional, collaborative, inclusive and sensitive approach.

Note: Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department. The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the role.

Special Conditions

  • National Police Check required.
  • Employment-related Screening Check required.
  • Role Status: Term up to 03/11/2025.

Desirable:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., CAPM, PMP).

About the Business

Our Screening and Transformation team is leading a major program of work to reform the processes and systems of the DHS Screening Unit by working collaboratively with other departmental teams, as well as key stakeholders across the public and private sector.

Screening Checks

If you are new to the department and are invited to an interview, you will be required to produce a National Police Check, which has been issued within six months of your application for the role. National Police Checks can be applied for via the South Australia Police or through an Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission accredited body.

If the role you are applying for also requires an Employment-related Screening Check, you will be required to undergo such assessment as is advised by DHS, including periodic assessment during your employment.
