The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has a requirement to fill a vacant position for a Land and Built Environment Program Officer to manage Coastal Projects. 

This role has oversight of the Coastal grants program with the aim to deliver on the coastal infrastructure program across the Barwon South West Region from Geelong, along the Great Ocean Road and through to the South Australian border.  The Program Officer will help communities manage their coastal assets and enhance the environment for the future.    

The position leads a small team to deliver the regions Coastal Protection Infrastructure Upgrade Program, Beach Protection Program and Coastal Public Access and Risk Grants and works closely with other regions and the state-wide coastal team to deliver the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program and other marine and coastal strategies.

The successful candidate has a demonstrated background in project planning and includes assessing and prioritising environmental projects, and tracking budget spend.

You have a genuine interest in contributing to and improving coastal communities, which involves interacting with the public. You competently represent DELWP - recognising the role has a public interface – these interactions are easy for you and you are in your comfort zone when doing this. 

Underpinning all the skills that you have, you have an exceptional ability to work collaboratively with others. You can form and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders as you work towards delivery on state-wide strategies to protect environments. Your exceptional stakeholder engagement, resilience and negotiation skills will be utilised as you navigate complex issues, conversations, expectations and the general demands and priorities of the role.

This is a fixed term position available for 12 months from the date of commencement.
