Utilise your high level communication skills and experience in translating complex scientific information into communication products for different audiences.
We are building an inclusive workplace to help realise the potential of our employees, embrace our differences, and apply our diverse thinking to innovation and delivering services to Victorian communities. All jobs can be worked flexibly, and we encourage job applications from Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
The Department of Environment, Land Water and Planning is embarking on a once in a generation program of reform to Victoria's public land forest estate. As part of this reform program, the Victorian Regional Forest Agreements (a Federal/State agreement on principles of forest management), will be reviewed by December 2019.
This reform program is intended to include everyone who has an interest in the management of Victoria's forests including traditional owners, community groups, user groups industry and government agencies. The role requires an individual with a passion for forest environments and science communication.
We do not shy away from saying this is a unique and challenging role! We have combined two distinct skill sets - you will be relying on your breadth of experience as a seasoned communicator and depth of knowledge of forest ecosystems.
You are ambitious to help Victorians and our communities; and can engage with them and have practical and meaningful conversations about forest ecosystems and threatened species, and forest management.
No conversation you have is insignificant or too difficult for you. You are able to shift your communication style according to the context and audience so that all who receive information from you are well informed and are confident they have been understood by you, and you have a genuine interest in obtaining their input.
Ideally, it is preferred you will have knowledge and experience in working in the Victorian forest environment on public land, but this is not essential.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 18 months.
