ABOUT THE ROLE

To be based in Melbourne, this role is responsible for the coordination of Delta Therapy Dogs’ programs across Victoria and Hobart, Tasmania. Working with volunteers and their dogs, and our Program Partners from the health, community care and education sectors, you will coordinate the delivery of Animal Assisted Interventions. Given this is the only position based in VIC, it requires someone who can confidentiality work autonomously within this busy role.

You will be responsible for the:

  • recruitment, selection and on-boarding of volunteers;
  • engagement of program partners wanting to introduce animal therapy programs;
  • placement of Therapy Dog Teams with our program partners;
  • ongoing support of volunteers, including supervision and retention;
  • relationship management required to support and retain program partners;
  • management of the budget for the programs in your regions;
  • administration of the programs, including waitlist management, database maintenance, compliances, and contract management;
  • submission of regular reports to demonstrate your achievements against your KPIs; and
  • contributions to team projects and a nationally aligned approach to program delivery.

Location: Melbourne VIC (working from home), however you will be expected to be fully available in business hours to be travelling around greater Melbourne and Geelong to work with Program Partners and Therapy Dog Teams, as well as approximate once quarterly travel to Albury/Wodonga and Hobart. You may also be required to travel to the head office in Sydney at least quarterly (possibly more often in the future).

Equipment requirements: Unrestricted drivers licence and own fully insured vehicle required, however travel allowance is payable. Laptop, phone, printer and other office basics will be supplied, however home office set-up is required.

Hours: Permanent Full time 37.5 hours/week. Flexibility to work weekends and after business hours on a semi-regular basis (approx. 8-12 weekends a year) is a must. Part-time job share position may also be considered if the right candidates apply. 

Remuneration: $71,177 + superannuation + opportunity to salary sacrifice

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an energetic, people orientated and results driven individual, with strong relationship management and program coordination skills, to join the team at Delta Therapy Dogs. A love of dogs is a must.

Key Essential Criteria for the role

  • A love for dogs and animals, a passion for our purpose and a commitment to positive rewards-based animal training;
  • Proven to be a results oriented self-starter who thrives on achieving targets;
  • Highly organised, efficient, with exceptional time and work management skills so as to be able to manage the heavy workload within the role;
  • An ability to develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • An ability to engage, grow and support the cohesion of diverse and complex teams; and
  • An ability to work autonomously – grit and resilience to take on a role working on your own, in another state from your colleagues.

Desirable Criteria

(Relevant criteria should be addressed in your application)

  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, NFP / Social Enterprise Management or volunteer management;
  • Industry experience working in a for-purpose organisation (Aka NGO, NFP or charity);
  • Experience as a Volunteer Coordinator;
  • Experience working alongside or as a volunteer yourself;
  • Experience working in or with health or community facilities such as hospitals, aged care, disability or mental health services etc.; and/or
  • Experience coordinating or delivering Animal Assisted Interventions.
