The organisation

Greenfleet is an environmental not-for-profit organisation that has delivered climate action for over 25 years. They are Australia’s first carbon offset provider and protect our climate by restoring native forests.

Greenfleet plants native biodiverse forests in Australia and New Zealand to restore nature and capture carbon emissions, which help fight the impacts of climate change, improve soil and water quality and restore habitat for native wildlife and endangered species.

The role

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager, Corporate Operations will lead organisational functions including finance, risk, IT, people and culture, governance and administration.

A key part of the role will be to develop and deliver operational strategies including systems improvements to ensure the ongoing capability of the organisation and its teams. The role will manage a sizeable team and provide ongoing support for organisational growth.

The General Manager, Corporate Operations will also have the opportunity to be a key contributor to the new organisational 2030 strategy, in addition to driving staff enablement.

In addition to this, the role will also:

  • Have oversight of the budget and financial performance of Greenfleet
  • Proactively develop and manage relevant strategic plans and the Corporate Operations Plan
  • Oversee change management initiatives
  • Provide support to the Greenfleet board as the internal lead for the Audit, Finance and Compliance Committee
  • Ensure Greenfleet’s governance requirements are met
  • Embed systems and processes to support continuous improvement
  • Oversee accounts payable and payroll
  • Lead the development of an effective procurement framework and contract management systems
  • Develop the IT strategic plan and manage usage policies and procedures
  • Ensure best practice HR strategies are in place and provide support for all team members

Skills and experience

To be the successful candidate for the General Manager, Corporate Operations, you will be a passionate and inspiring leader, an insights-driven problem solver with a highly positive attitude to drive change and growth. You will also have the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, finance or similar field experience
  • A strategic approach to managing multi-disciplinary functions including IT, HR, finance, administration, governance, strategy and planning
  • A strong track record in developing strategic plans to support organisations and delivering them
  • Extensive proven experience managing financial functions, operations functions at a senior/executive leadership level
  • Demonstrated capability to steer organisations to align day-to-day operations with overarching strategy
  • The ability to work collaboratively with board level through to team members and external suppliers and stakeholders
  • Ideally you will have qualifications in IT, project management, financial management or similar
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • A passion for climate action and Australian environmental sustainability
