About The Role

Deaf Connect is looking for a motivated Instructional/Learning Designer to create engaging learning materials for our Interpreting and Auslan Qualifications. Working closely with a remote, high-functioning team of SMEs and casual designers, you will develop interactive materials suited to adult learners in our Accredited Courses.

Under the direction of the Team Leader – Interpreting Qualifications, you will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), casual designers and other stakeholders to develop learning materials, online modules and assessments for our diploma-level Interpreting Qualifications.

You will be working on a focussed short term project, designing a hybrid delivery program for a mixed cohort of Deaf and hearing students in our Interpreting Qualifications. This is an exciting project with possibilities for creating innovative resources and assessments and reviewing existing materials with accessibility and universal design principles in mind.

This role can be located in any of the Deaf Connect offices.

About You

In your application, let us know if you have these key skills and experience:  

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design with previous exposure to RTOs and AQF standards.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Reliable time management skills and ability to complete projects within tight timeframes.

Highly desirable:

  • Adult education or instructional design qualifications. Eg. Certificate IV / Diploma in Training and Assessment, Bachelor degree with Instructional Design stream/major
  • Demonstrated experience writing VET materials mapped to specific units of competency and qualifications.
  • Experience designing a variety of materials for trainers and students, utilising technology such as Microsoft Office suite, Acrobat Pro, Moodle, Articulate Storyline, Rise, Vimeo, GoReact.
  • Demonstrated ability to design engaging content specific to student needs.
  • Auslan fluency will be highly regarded and Deaf candidates are highly desirable for their ability to provide insights into Deaf-centred design and the Deaf student experience
  • Qualifications in Auslan and interpreting or relevant experience
  • Ability to work well under little supervision.
