ABOUT DEADLY CONNECTIONS

Deadly Connections is an Aboriginal Community Controlled, not for profit organisation. Its purpose is to build stronger and safer families and communities by driving individual, social and systemic change through a multi layered approach of providing prevention, intervention and diversionary solutions, systemic/individual advocacy and raising community awareness through education.

About the Role

Within a team approach and under the supervision of the CEO, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the smooth operation of the office and for supporting staff holistically.

The position will ensure high levels of organisational effectiveness, communication, and safety to improve the organisations procedures and day-to-day operation. This will include but is not limited to the following list of duties:

  • Work collaboratively with all staff members and stakeholders, including the Board
  • To actively lead and work within a team that ensures a coordinated approach across all key programs
  • Working across DC programs as required providing ongoing support particularly at times of crisis and when required
  • Developing internal systems and processes to ensure employee accountability, transparency, smooth and effective work practices
  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the organisations cultural values and mission
  • Ensure all operations contribute to culturally informed, trauma-aware, and contribute to healing-centred, transformative justice approaches
  • Oversee the allocation and utilisation of resources, including personnel, to support community programs and initiatives, equipment and facilities
  • Ensure optimal staffing levels to meet operational demands
  • Collaborate with management and executive to optimise resource allocation and maintain financial sustainability
  • Champion, role model and promote cultural competence among all staff, emphasising the importance of cultural safety and respect

KEY CANDIDATE CONSIDERATIONS

  • Interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure team environment, manage time effectively and set priorities. As well as the ability to work in isolation to complete tasks
  • Ability to remain calm and provide professional leadership, during tense and unpredictable situations
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and keyboard skills, including knowledge and experience with various software including Microsoft Office, business management and accounting programs
  • Strong organisational, advocacy and administrative skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to deliver quality customer service, contribute to service improvements and adapt to change
  • Professional presentation, confidence and positive behaviour at all times
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to undertake research, analyse data and prepare summary recommendations for reports or responses to enquiries on behalf of the CEO and Co-Founder.
  • Ability to advocate, negotiate and problem solve
