The Department of Communities and Justice carries an important purpose across many areas of its work, particularly when it comes to improving outcomes for children and young people, Aboriginal people, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people experiencing domestic and family violence, victims of sexual assault, juvenile offenders, people at high risk of reoffending, and people experiencing homelessness.
Working together for stronger communities means we can continue to deliver our services with a more unified and collaborative approach. This means a greater focus on prevention and early intervention, faster responses, more seamless operations, less duplication of effort and better outcomes.
Commissioning and Planning works in partnership with government, non-government, and community agencies to manage performance contracting, planning and improvement activities that are underpinned by sound evidence-based practices, meet local needs, and manage funding allocation and spend.
The Department of Communities and Justice is looking for a resilient and innovative Director who is passionate about leading the district’s market stewardship through information sharing, engagement, and collaboration that address performance-related barriers, this includes encouraging market access, growth of high performers, management of under performers, and support for market performance.
As the Director Commissioning and Planning you will lead and mentor your team, investing time developing capability and building resilience with your team to ensure a balance between competition and collaboration, and optimising transparency and accountability, while at the same time stimulating knowledge sharing and innovation.
The role will oversee and lead the Homeless Outreach unit and will contribute in the development of building and strengthening services to Aboriginal peoples and communities, and having those services delivered by Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs).
