Communities and Justice (DCJ) enables services to better work together to support everyone’s right to access justice, support families and strengthen/bolster the promotion of early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community.

The Coronial Case Management Unit (CCMU) is located at the Lidcombe Coroners Complex. It is an interagency unit represented by staff from the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), NSW Police Force (NSWPF) and NSW Health Pathology - Forensic Medicine (FM). The CCMU undertakes information collection processes, case management and the triaging of deaths reported to the Coroner across New South Wales.

About the role

The role leads and coordinates the CCMU’s day to day operations with a focus on ensuring;

  • Effective collection of information, operation of triage systems, and management of coronial cases
  • Responsive delivery of high quality services to clients and their families
  • Meeting statutory obligations and contributing to the improvement of CCMU operations

You will work closely with the State Coroner and multiagency partners, including NSW Health, Forensic Medicine, and NSW Police, ensuring all operational activities comply with relevant government policies, procedures, corporate governance, and statutory requirements.

The role promotes a unified and collaborative workforce. 

As CCMU Coordinator you will need to possess:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a high-volume service delivery role
  • Strong commitment to the delivery of professional, timely and compassionate client service
  • Experience in developing staff and promoting a working environment that values teamwork and ethical behaviour, enhances skills and rewards innovation
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders

Essential requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of the operations and processes of the NSW coronial system, court and registry procedures and relevant legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in service coordination
  • It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and proof of vaccination will be requested prior to commencing employment
